 Rotterdam
Airport is situated in the northern outskirts
of the city of Rotterdam in the south west
of the Netherlands. The airport is the Netherlands'
third largest airport by passenger numbers
with Amsterdam - Schiphol and Eindhoven coming
first and second respectively. Rotterdam airport
handles just over 1.1 million passengers each
year, a figure which has been increased significantly
since 2004. This has been due to a number
of factors. Rotterdam Coucil have made a concerted
effort to improve the quality of service provided
by the airport and to focus on and promote
certain business services. Rotterdam Airport
has also benefitted from a number of low-cost
carriers using the airport instead of Schiphol
to avoid Amsterdam's high tariffs.
The airport is located adjacent to the A13
motorway which provides easy access to Rotterdam
to the south and to the Hague to the north.
Travellers to Amsterdam and the north of the
country can connect to the A4 motorway at
The Hague.
